Wells walks started in the Winter lockdown of 2021. Wells Projects devised Wells Walks as a
response to the increasing mental strain of the pandemic with the help of Alice Kidney from
Mental Org and NHS crisis Support worker Daniela Fleckenstein.
Building on our inicial COVID response outreach project “Digital Commune” (which began
the process of fostering an online community) Wells Walks was designed to be supportive,
collaborative, non-hierarchical, participant-driven and totally non-obligatory.
The walks were organised weekly. We sent out activity sheets every Monday, the
participants then had a week to choose a time to do the walk as described in the sheet and
we met over zoom on Sunday to share our work.
